Software QA Engineer

Location: Bangalore

About the Role:


Primary role will be to contribute to the functional and non-functional testing activities of new feature and sustenance activities of MWG product releases.

Key Responsibilities:

-
Work with Agile process for iteration based development/QA.

-
Create test environment for different topologies of McAfee Web-Gateway along with test plan and test cases.

-
Development and review of automated tests

-
Quality assurance for existing and new functionalities and features.

-
Perform quality testing with proper execution and evaluation of results.

Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills & Education:

-
Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Engineering/ Computer Applications

-
Having relevant Work Experience of 1 – 3 years in software testing – functional, non-functional as well as automation.

-
Good familiarity with Internet protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, SSL, DNS, Different Authentication Mechanisms).

-
Knowledge of Linux, Windows and Solaris operating system.

-
Experience in automation and scripting languages such as Perl/Python/Shell/VB Script is must.

-
Prior experience in UI automation using TestComplete/Selenium/QTP is highly desired.

-
Prior experience in testing security/networking products is a must.

-
Performance/Load/Stress testing experience desired.

-
Experience in virtualization technologies like VMware, kvm.will be an advantage.

-
Good verbal and written communication.

About the Role:


You would be working in a Network Security business unit consisting of highly passionate, technology focused people. We build products that protect critical assets by monitoring and controlling the network traffic. You will be working on a Network Security Platform(NSP) which is a world leader in Network Intrusion Prevention. Network Threat Behavior Analysis (NTBA) is a specific product which is part of the Network Security Platform suite. NTBA provides Network visibility and Network security functionality by consuming traffic summary from other Network devices. You have an opportunity to contribute to the product at all stages of product lifecycle to make a positive impact on the customer.

Basic Function and Scope of the Position

· The person would be working in McAfee product Engineering group developing a Network Security product

Specific Responsibilities/Functions

· Understand and Review the requirements

· Identify the work tasks and estimate

· Full lifecycle ownership of Module or Feature development which includes Design, Coding, Unit testing and reviews

· Contribute to Design, Code and Test case reviews

· Collaborate with dependent teams and resolve issues

· Address customer issues to provide satisfactory solution

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Experience:

- Bachelor or Master of Engineering in Computer Science from recognized universities.

- Exposure to large scale software development and maintenance for minimum of 6 years.

Required Skills:

- Design and Analysis skills

- Excellent C/C++ programming language knowledge

- Linux/Unix Operating system internals

- Ability to design and implement multi threaded programs

- Experience in development of networking applications

- Strong problem solving and analytical skills

- Strong debugging skills

Preferred Skills:

- TCP/IP protocol stack

- Security domain knowledge

- Linux Device Driver programming

- Performance analysis on multi-processor systems

Keep all assigned documentation components up-to-date with the development of their respective products, while meeting high quality standards.

Drive the process of having documents reviewed and approved.

Proactively communicate status and issues to facilitate coordination with a global team.

Coordinate and collaborate with development, testing, marketing, professional services, and related groups through the product-lifecycle process to collect information, meet requirements, and assist in product development.

Professionally and consistently self-edit own work and assist in editing the work of other team members when necessary. Help engineers improve their own documents.

Meet requirements for speed, deadlines, and methodology.

Maintain focus on delivering documentation in the most efficient and productive way.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications:

1-4 years experience in building and improving commercial, enterprise-class online and print-styled software documentation for the full range of end users.

Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp and document technical, abstract, or advanced concepts clearly to any audience level required by a product.

-
Demonstrated excellence in technical writing; candidates will be asked to take a writing exam.

-
Strong experience with solving communication problems for conceptually complex products, especially those including subjects such as networking, security, databases, and application-server architectures; direct experience with network security products is highly desirable.

-
Experience with authoring tools like FrameMaker, RoboHelp, advanced MS Word skills, content management systems like AuthorIT, Trisoft, graphics tools like Adobe Photoshop, MS Visio.

Experience with DITA and Trisoft will be a huge plus.

Competencies / Skill sets required for the role:

Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written

Proven ability with English spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax and composition rules and a clear business/technical writing style.
